"Ta-ra-ra Boom-de-ay" is a vaudeville and music hall song. The song's first known public performance was in Henry J. Sayers' 1891 revue Tuxedo, which was performed in Boston, Massachusetts. The song became widely known in the version sung by Lottie Collins in London music halls in 1892. The melody was later used in various contexts, including as the theme song to the television show Howdy Doody. It is sung in Kidsongs: Adventures in Biggleland: Meet the Biggles.

Ta-Ra-Ra-Boom-Dee-A

Ta-Ra-Ra-Boom-Dee-A

Lyrics

Kidsongs Version:

We’ve been up and we’ve been down

Seeing all of Biggletown

All the new friends we did see

Playing oh so happily

Come with us and have some fun

Quick before our day is done

Join us as we sing our song

Everyone can sing along

CHORUS:

Ta-ra-ra Boom-dee-a

Ta-ra-ra Boom-dee-a

Come join us when we say

Ta-ra-ra Boom-dee-a

Ta-ra-ra-Boom-dee-a

We made new friends today

We wish that we could stay

And now we’re on our way

Ruby, Billy, Freckles, too

They’ve made friends with me and you

Gonna make some fancy moves

Now we’ve got our dancing shoes

CHORUS:

We wish that we could stay

And now we’re on our way
